Long time friends and collaborators Gary J Robinson and David May (AKA Manikular) launched RareForm in 1997 as a platform for their Drum & Bass productions. Their careers took off in 1999 when Total Science who were close friends put them in touch with The Stage One Music Company who showed great interest in their concept to launch their own label 'New Vision Recordings' and got the ball rolling with distribution, publishing and manufacturing.
RareForm enjoyed massive success early on with their second release 'SpineChilla' which gained heavy weight DJ support, mainstream radio airplay and worldwide record sales in the thousands. The impact of SpineChilla saw it land a number of major international television licences as well as being the instrumental backing for a remix of Christina Aguilera's classic 'Genie in a Bottle' single for RCA Records.
The success of the Genie in a Bottle remix lead to RareForm remixing many popular music acts including Christina Aguilera (RCA), Pitch Black (Universal / Mow town), QBs Finest Featuring Nas (Columbia), Sonna Rele (Universal), SugaBabes (London) and Sussie 4 (EMI Music, Mexico).
2000 saw the boys developing RareForm Live and hitting the road with a line up consisting of live keys from Gary, Manikular on MC duties, Oxford Depth Charge resident DJ Lunar as Scratch DJ and drummer Stuart Brown well known on the Scottish club circuit for his involvement with electronic acts.
This would later evolve into an off-shoot project for Kickin Records entitled PoisonFlow which would see the line up expanding over time with lead guitar, bass guitar and lead vocals from Jonathan Vaughan (AKA Resin).
2001 saw Jonathan not only writing and producing for RareForm and PoisonFlow but also working on a number of singles with Gary for RareForm such as the punk fuelled Drum & Bass anthem Fear Grips, released as RareForm+Resin.
The new millennium saw co founding member David May move onto new ventures leaving Gary to maintain the RareForm name.
As well as keeping busy with RareForm vinyl and Mp3 releases Gary has also pushed the music into the television-licensing arena. Working with various agencies in Europe and the United States has seen RareForm tunes used on TV shows worldwide including Battle Star Galactica, Big Brother (Australia & Mexico), Date My Mom, Driven, East Enders, Hogan Knows Best, Making The Band 2, Miss Universe, My Super Sweet 16, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Pimp My Ride, Power Rangers, Punk'D, Room Raiders, The Shield and Skins.
As well as material for a number of television channels and networks such as A&E, AXN, Discovery, E, Food Network, Fox, MTV, National Geographical, The History Channel, The Sci-Fi Channel, The Weather Channel and VH1.
Other notable licences include the use of tracks by Nike for billboard adverts in Times Square, New York as well as tracks for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Official Guide, MTV's V For Vendetta Unmasked Special and James Bond Quantum of Solace Special and New Line Cinema's web promo for the Antonio Banderas movie 'Take The Lead'.
2008 saw Gary move RareForm over to his new label 'Urban Sickness Audio' working with Q-Project on his first outing for USA entitled 'Android Origin'.
